Conditions for food sensitivity

Your immune system and your gut health is unique, like a fingerprint.

This means that someone’s “superfood” may be your “kryptonite”. What does this mean? Ultimately, there can be various foods that may be causing or worsening unwanted symptoms throughout your body. These foods can vary from person to person, and can even include generally healthy foods like spinach or turmeric! A universal elimination diet  (lamb, pears, and rice anyone?) does not work for most people (plus it’s miserable).

Food sensitivities can cause or worsen a variety of conditions like IBS, migraines, fatigue and more. Food Farmacist RD can identify your trigger foods, and develop a meal plan to help you find symptom relief.

So what is a food sensitivity?

Food sensitivities can affect various parts of your body. To summarize, a food sensitivity is your body’s immune system reacting to a particular food. As a result, your body releases something called inflammatory cytokines that can wreak havoc in your body and cause various symptoms. Note, this is NOT the same thing as a food allergy. To learn the difference, check out my blog post here.

It’s time to find out which foods or chemicals are making you sick (and which ones are safe for you).

If you’re ready to use food as medicine and to find the root cause of your symptoms, then I’m here to help.

How does it work?

A patented blood test called MRT (Mediator Release Test) will help us find our how your body reacts to a list of 170 foods and chemicals. This blood test tells you which foods and chemicals trigger the release of inflammatory mediators in your body. Most importantly, this test tells you which foods do NOT cause a reaction in your body (i.e. the foods that are calming to your immune system).

The MRT measures all of these reactions, rather than focusing on just one marker. The result: an individualized “GPS” tool to find out how YOUR body responds to various foods and chemicals. Here is a sample excerpt from an MRT report.

The MRT blood panel looks at 150 different foods and food chemicals to identify which foods may be worsening your symptoms.

The MRT report categorizes your individualized results based on level of reactivity. For example, this individual was highly reactive to the vegetables white potatoes, spinach, and mushrooms (red). He was moderately reactive to eggplant (yellow) and very low (or none at all) reactive to the rest of the tested vegetables (green).

What foods should you eat for IBS, migraines, fibromyalgia, or other health conditions? Many of these health issues can be worsened by food sensitivities. Food Farmacist RD breaks it all down in this post, including a FREE cheat sheet to determining YOUR food sensitivity score.
